Inside is her gallery and her studio where she creates garden art, primarily from clay.
In addition to greenmen, leafmen, pears, dishes, wall decor, wind chimes and birdseed feeders,
she creates mosaics of tiles she has made by hand. The mosaics are on plant tables, birdbath basins, fountains.
Saundra makes each tile carefully by hand.
The "plain" tiles are cut by knife from a slab of clay while the leaf tiles are made from cutting around leaves pressed into the slab of clay.
These tiles are dried, bisque fired, stained and/or glazed, then refired to over 2200 degrees Fahrenheit.
This high temperaure produces a tile that can withstand the rigors of harsh weather.
Her birdbath basins, tiled fountainheads, water basins and plant tables are all finished with sanded grout and sealed for further protection.
For some individuals, she has fulfilled the request for tiles from leaves from their own garden to make a project especially personal.
She is happy to consider other commissions as well.
